Each year since we retired my husband and I have gone to a local student film festival. It’s fun, It’s cheap and we’re sticklers for movies.

This year we ordered our tickets as soon as they went on sale and blocked off our calendars for the long weekend. As we were sitting in the theater, waiting for a college student’s zombie film commentating on mass consumerism I noticed that I had to struggle to hear the actor’s voice during the opening credits in the nearly quiet movie theater.

But this didn’t just happen in that one movie, I noticed it the next day and throughout the remainder of the film festival, and mentioned it to my husband within the week. We did some research online and learned about a miracle ear hearing test. I went to it and learned that I did have some hearing loss so I got fitted with a hearing aid that you can’t even tell I’m wearing.

I was a little self-conscious about the thought of wearing a hearing aid but knew that I should if my hearing lost was going to interfere with my frequent movie watching.
